Although general dentists and family dentists have a lot of similarities, there are a few differences. Let’s take a moment to examine the differences and discuss why choosing a family dentist may be the best way to go.

One difference in family dentists and general dentists is that family dentists will take care of any age while general dentists typically have a certain age range they will work on. This is one of the biggest reasons that I think a family dentist is the best route. If you have a family that includes small children it is a good idea to have the entire family under the care of that one dentist. The reason for this is because the dentist will be able to get an idea of any oral problems that may be specific to your family and may be hereditary. If you all are going to see different dentists it will make it harder for the dentist to find things that may become issues for you in the future. It is also a good idea if you can get your extended family to go to the same family dentist as you as well, if you all live in close proximity to one another. This way your dentist will know as much as he possibly can about your mouth and any problems you may be experiencing.

Another reason why I believe a Phoenix Family Dentist is a better choice is because having your children go to the same dentist as you will help to relieve their fears of the dentist. By seeing mom and dad go to visit the very same person they visit for their teeth and gums, they will realize that he or she is not so scary after all! Family dentists are great because the entire family can get to know and feel comfortable with them. Since you will all be going to the same dentist you will already know (even on your first visit) what to expect from the dentist.

By getting to know your dentist so well, you will feel comfortable if and when a dental emergency arises. Your family dentist can be called by any member of your family and will be well accepted into the office at any time. I love a small town and the small town feel. By having the same dentist for each member or your family you too can have this same small town atmosphere even if you live in a big city.

If you are single or you and your husband do not have any children, you may still want to use a family dentist so that when your family grows, your children can come with you as soon as they are old enough to be seen by the dentist. You will also save a lot of time using a family dentist, by not having to drive to different dentist offices.
